Jeez Louise. I wake up today and I get two e-mails from JLP asking for my question. I haven't had breakfast yet!
To appease the God, here's my question of the day: In the past 24 hours, what have you done in relation to money?
For me, I picked up and deposited my paycheck (for some reason, EFT didn't work this month) and withdrew $40. I used the cash to buy an iced tea ($1.50) and a tuna sandwich ($6), and used my credit card to pay an application fee ($75). I also checked my online checking and credit card balances to make sure that I had enough money to cover expenses come Sept. 1 (mortgage, utilities, etc.).

Let's see...Deposited a client check yesterday afternoon. Bought Klondike bars (2 packs for $5!) and Bomb Pops for my kids last night. (My boys just returned from 2 weeks in Colorado with my brother's family so we had to celebrate their return.) Filled up the van this morning for $59 and grabbed a venti Caramel Macchiato (extra hot) at Starbucks for $3.78 on my way back home.
Dinner last night with hubby at Subway, $12. Filled up the car with gas, $41.50. Checked online to see what checks have cleared. Cashed two random checks--one for $6 and some change from my bank for the difference when I paid my car off, and a $50 reimbursement check. Used the $50 to pay my cleaning lady this morning.
LOL! I'm sorry about the double email. I sent one privately to you and the other one was to all the hosts. I'm usually not that "in your face." Please forgiveth me.
To answer your question:
NOTHING! Other than write about money, I didn't spend any money in the last 24 hours.
But, my wife and I did walk by a lovely house that is for sale and we "talked" about it. Nothing serious but just talking about it makes me nervous.
Thanks for hosting.
In the past 24 hours? I bought a sandwich for lunch, ended up buying dinner (neither my wife or I wanted to be the one to cook last night), bought a song on iTunes, paid a credit card bill (and 1 payment away from it being paid off), transferred some money to a spare checking account, and trying to look into why my latest IRA contribution hasn't gone through.
I've balanced my accounts in Quicken, called to inquire about the deposit of a $550 expense report (I need that deposited!!), continued to read Mary Hunt's book about Debt-Proofing my child (hopefully, children:), spent some money yesterday on work related expenses and counted the cash my husband got from some stuff he sold on Craigslist ($250, woohoo!).
Yesterday morning I split a breakfast burrito with a coworker, she paid this time so I owe her a half (1.50?)
Last night, I recouped the loss of last week's yoga class by asking to attend an extra one this week.
This morning, I got an email from a company I was disputing a charge with that they will refund my $50. Um, finally paid that $236 utility bill, apparently overdrafted again because of a completely unforeseen error that I've already blogged about, and just deposited my bi-weekly savings, spending and insurance allowances into their respective e-savings homes.
Yesterday, I bought a pack of gum (Extra!) for $1.01 from CVS on the way to work. Last night, I put $15 on our laundry card (we live in an old loft building, and at this point, we have to share a laundry room with our neighbors!), which should last about three weeks. That's it! Big spender, huh?

Very little - I got a $25.50 reimbursement for money I spent at the company visit to the ballpark.
The main thing we did was to move a bunch of old tax stuff into our "archive" file boxes in the attic and out of the main file cabinet. This freed a vast amount of space in the file cabinet, which is a good thing...
Last night I moved $1000 from my checking account into my HSBC account.
Now if only Emigrant Direct would ever send me the rest of my new membership information, maybe I'd give them my money instead.
Let's see ... bought fall clothes for the kids yesterday - $100. Gas this morning - $60. Lunch today - $6.50 .. and of course you caught me on the one day every two weeks that I actually buy lunch! Also checked my ED account and mentally noted having to deposit a check and move some money around.
Hmm, we updated and reviewed Quicken last night. I bought a used textbook for one of my classes this semester this morning. That's it.
Actually, today I got up some nerve and moved a good chunk of my 401k money out of "capital preservation" and back into emerging markets funds. After getting slapped back in May, I've been playing it very safe. But, since I'm only 35, I figure I gotta take on a little risk (plus, I've been really bored with the lack of any financial adventure).
I didn't spend any money yesterday.
Today, I spent $10 on a notary to hopefully get $6000 from the estate of a relative who passed away almost 3 years ago (note to everyone - do your family a HUGE favor and write out a will).
I have to do some shopping at the drug store tonight but only for necessities. And, I get 5% back from my Citi dividend card.
24 hours? Well yesterday all I did was pay my monthly $10 coffee dues for September. And today I went to Target and purchased 2 bottles of downy simple pleasures with $1 off coupon. Pretty exciting life, huh? :)
I bought gas this morning (happy to see the price at $2.54/gallon) and checked my checking account online.
I wrote a grocery list and clipped a few coupons, but haven't made it to the store, yet...
I deposited a rent check from my roommate. I bought lunch for about $3.80. I did not fill the gas tank (putting off the angst until tomorrow). Money was deducted from my checking account for Netflix membership and my dog's health insurance.
I bought a flight online for $US370 or so. Nothing else, though I have looked a LOT at financial markets etc. but not done any actual trades. Oh yes, I moved $A400 (Australian Dollars) from a money market account to my margin loan in Australia. That was the dividend from a stock I own there - going towards paying interest on the loan (about equal to one months interest).
In the last 24 hours I checked my checking account online, and paid a few bills.
The only purchase was buying snacks for my desk at work, $4.07. I did check my bank account and credit card statements online, though, and scheduled my credit card payment for next Monday.
1) Gave to church
2) Lunch out
3) Bought 4 tires for minivan -- one tread was really thin
4) Bought "Ice Cream of the Future" -- okay but not great ;)
5) Bought four pairs of sneakers, marked down (I have two different sized feet so this is really only two pair)
6) Bought coffee and steamer
All told almost $800 out the door. That's unusual.
I went to Trader Joe's:
- There I bought some $2 wine (Charles Shaw) and other bargains compared to other grocery stores.
Other than that, I've spent the day in the person finance blogosphere while I wait to start at my new job (in the Bay Area) on Monday.
Oh and I found a buyer for my old condo in Boston. Too bad that I'm going to be losing money each month.
